Minor Hockey Day wrap-up
It was great to see all the Minor Hockey Players out last Sunday!

The day kicked off with a scrimmage vs. the U9 LL Titans.  Despite going into the scrimmage fairly confident, the Royals couldn't overcome the skill and physicality of the U9's, having a goal by Sean Leslie called off for being in the crease only added to the disappointment.  Tempers began to flare in the latter parts of the game, with Royals #7 Josh Munro getting into a tussle with #9 Reid Wynette from the Titans squad.  #5 Oliver Lyzenga lead the Titans scoring with a hat trick, and the U9 Titans were able to power their way to a 4-0 victory in the half ice scrimmage.

In an interview post game, Royals Captain Geoff Killing was quoted as saying "we thought we had a good chance heading into the game, but the unfamiliarity of the Half-Ice 4on4 format prevented our offence from getting rolling.  Clearly we have work to do if we expect to compete with this team in the future".

Thanks to all the parents, fans, kids and grandparents for coming out to cheer on the Royals for Minor Hockey Day!

The Winners of this year's Minor Hockey Day draw (sponsored by Tavistock Optimists, Tavistock Royals and the Tavistock Minor Hockey Parents) were Dylan Hall and Keyan Lyzenga.  Congratulations!
