Royals earn 2 wins over the weekend, improve to 4-1
The Royals finished off a successful weekend grinding out a big win on the road in Minto Sunday afternoon.
This weekend's matchups kicked of with a home game vs. the visiting Petrolia Squires Saturday night.
The Royals welcomed back #28 Patrick Vulgan who recently competed in the World Skate Games in Argentina late October. P Vulgs wasted no time netting his first goal as a Royal, scoring 16 seconds into the 1st period.
The Royals maintained their lead for the rest of the game, earning a win with a final score of 5-2 over the visiting Squires. Other goal scorers on the night were #18 Trevor Sauder, #93 Mitch Facey, #15 Matt Zilke, and #17 Deven Kropf.
Sunday the Royals headed to Palmerston with a shortened bench to take on the skillful Minto 81's in an afternoon bout.
After a scoreless 1st period, #16 Sean Leslie put the Royals on the board at 19:37 in the 2nd. Rookie Forward #88 Alex Mourani netted his first as a Royal to pull the team ahead 2-0. With the boys showing heart and determination, the visiting Royals held on to earn a 4-2 win over Minto, with additional scoring coming from rookie #21 Lucas Bast (1st goal as a Royal) and #25 Jeremy Munro.
After a challenging weekend, the Royals now improve to 4-1 on the season.
