Royals take 2-0 series lead in AA Championship
Game 1 of the AA Championship went Sat March 18th as the 5th seed Royals faced off against the 2nd seeded Ripley Wolves.
Fans didn't have to wait long to see the first goal, with #15 Matt Zilke scoring early at 18:24 with line-mates #9 Collin Hartwick and #91 Erik Robichaud earning assists on the effort. Ripley was quick to respond, tying things up 1 minute later. Later in the period, #18 Trevor Sauder (assisted by Kropf/Wieringa) put the Royals back in the lead, 2-1 after 1 period of play.
The 2nd period saw the Royals add 2 more with goals from #2 Cam Leslie (assisted by Zilke/Kienapple) and #28 Patrick Vulgan (assisted by Wieringa/Kienapple), 4-1 after 2 periods.
#9 Collin Hartwick gave the Royals a 5-1 lead (assisted by Hohl/Robichaud) near the halfway mark, while Ripley made added another at 8:09. The final goal of the game came with 4:24 left with another from #18 Trevor Sauder (assisted by Jeremy Munro/Killing) for a final score of 6-2 on the road in Ripley. #30 Jensen van Boekel continued his strong play, earning his first AA Championship win in the pipes for the Royals.

Game 2 went Sunday afternoon back in Tavistock with a 3:30 puck drop.
Ripley was first to score in Game 2, finding the back of the net at 4:05 in the 1st period and holding on for a 1-0 lead after 1.
Tavistock got on the board at 6:23 in the 2nd with with the tying goal from #6 Jack Wieringa (assisted by Sauder) and took the lead 2-1 a short time later at 3:39 with a goal from #5 Geoff Killing (assisted by Sauder/Kropf).
Ripley was able to tie things back up in the early stages of the 3rd period and then took a 3-2 lead with 13:23 left in the 3rd. With 1:06 to go, #17 Deven Kropf (assisted by Robichaud/Christner) tied the game back up 3-3, forcing OT to determine the winner of game 2.
With both teams getting lots of chances, #30 Jensen van Boekel game up with a huge pad save to keep the Royals alive and the home team took advantage with #28 Patrick Vulgan scoring the winning goal at the 10 min mark (assisted by Kienapple/Sauder). 4-3 Royals in a thrilling overtime winner in front of a packed barn in Tavi. #30 Jensen van Boekel picked up his 2nd AA Championship win in net for the Royals
