OEHL CUP AA Quarterfinals Matchup is set!
The Royals regular season concludes with a 4th place finish (out of 11) an a spot in the AA Playoffs. Quarterfinal matchups were finalized on the last day of play of the regular season, a testament to the parity seen this year amongst the various teams. Finishing with a 13-7 record, the Royals will host the Durham Thundercats, who finished their season in 5th place with a 12-8 record, in the AA Quarterfinals.
Both teams will be evenly match after split during regular season play with each team winning on the road.
The Royals have an opportunity to not only repeat as AA Champs, but also be dubbed the 1st ever "OEHL Cup" Champion in the inaugural year of the newly formed "ONTARIO ELITE HOCKEY LEAUGE". The OEHL Cup is the new name for the OHA Intermediate "B" trophy which was last won in 1971 by the Napanee Comets. This trophy has a long history, dating back to 1935 when Whitby was dubbed the first winner.
