Royals take Game 5 in Port Elgin!
The Royals hit the road Friday night for Game 5 in Port Elgin at the Plex.

Scoring kicked off at 11:28 in the first by Saugeen with the Royals answering back at 10:48 with a goal from Matt Zilke, assisted by #8 Chris Dimmers and #9 Collin Hartwick.  After 1 period of play, the Royals and Winterhawks were tied at 1-1.



The 2nd period's goals all landed in the Royals favour, with the line of #18 Trevor Sauder, #9 Collin Hartwick and #15 Matt Zilke firing on all cylinders.  The Royals took the first lead of the game at 16:23 with a goal from #9 Collin Hartwick, assisted by #15 Matt Zilke and #18 Trevor Sauder.  Sauder added another unassisted at 13:03 with a melee breaking out afterwards that resulted in Saugeen player #44 Chad Jones getting the instigator and a fighting major and ejection from the game.  Unfortunately our Captain #5 Geoff Killing was also awarded a fighting penalty and had to exit the game early.  Before the end of the wild period, At 6:06 #15 Matt Zilke added to the lead, assisted by #20 Tristan Hohl and #18 Trevor Sauder.  4-1 Royals after 2 periods of play.

Saugeen pulled to within 2 at 14:09 in the 3rd period, but the boys battled it out and added another at 5:46 scored by #9 Collin Hartwick and #15 Matt Zilke.

Final score after all was said and done was a 5-2 victory for the visiting Royals, earning a critical win in the best of 7 series.

In the only way he knows how, #30 Jensen van Boekel stood tall in net and picked up the win in his first start of the quarterfinal series.  

The Royals now have the chance to win the series as they prepare for Game 6 scheduled for Saturday night in Tavistock 7:30pm
